The color of springtime is in the flowers, the color of winter is in the imagination.

My backyard has been suffering and I can't wait to get out there again soon to start preparing it for spring. The fall and winter have really got the best of me and kept me indoors most of the time (mainly with business not the cold since it has been so mild here in Oregon), so I didn't plant a winter garden. We have a giant oak tree right in the middle of our back yard that dumps twigs and leaves all year long, making for great mulch.. but also a great mess! More then likely I will get my mom (the green thumb) out here to help me in the next few weeks and I will update you then, is your garden as sad as mine? <--- please say yes so I don't feel alone!
I just adore your pictures! I admire you for doing a garden at all! I have the opposite of a green thumb and ended up filling my whole front garden with rocks! LOL! Problem solved ;)

Yep, our garden is about that sad. Well, it's frozen now. The saddest thing is that it was so warm up until last week that we had all kinds of green sprouts peeping out of the soil. But then winter finally made its entrance and now I look at those poor green dots, wondering if they will survive.
ReplyDeleteHmm, didn't mean to depress you :D
Love the feel of the photographs!
.. just because i have a garden it doesnt mean it thrives lol i killed half my stuff last year, but i'm getting better at it!
DeleteGorgeous shots! I especially love the ones with your reflection :)
ReplyDeletemy yard is really sad right now. we had 3 bushes die in the fall so we are waiting for spring to plant new ones. but to me, your garden still looks beautiful....because you can tell there are nice touches here and there, just waiting for spring, life, color to burst through! i can't wait for spring!
ReplyDeleteYour garden photos look so beautiful even though some of the plants seem to lack life. I bet in the spring you'll have some lovely growth and flowers! Sadly up here in Canada we can't really even think about gardens till mid March when there's a bit of snow melting. Maybe in April we can start planting, indoors.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your garden!
My garden is a mess! I tidied it up two weekends ago ready for the spring bulbs but I think it will take a miracle to look good! I know how you feel with the tree - I'm surrounded by them and they look lovely. But they make a lot of mess!
ReplyDeleteMy garden looks about that sad right now too. I can't wait for spring to come so I can plant again!
ReplyDeleteOur garden is bordered by our woods, all thisr leaves do make a mess don't they?!
Props to you for being able to take beautiful pictures of not such beautiful subject matter... but I do think it's kinda pretty. I especially like the old trunk.
ReplyDeleteWe have a huge tree that makes a horrible mess too and I promise mine is probably worse. I do most of the outside work since my husband works so much. I love it but sometimes don't know where to begin. I pride myself on having a nice looking yard and this year is going to be tough with the clean up while working to open up shop.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures, I love the vintage thermometer :)
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! We have yet to plant a garden but we've been meaning to!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThis year will be our first year to plant a garden. I can't wait! I love your pictures!
ReplyDeleteYep, very very sad garden in my backyard too. I can't wait to start planting and get some color back there so I can start complaining about taking care of it. hehe. Love your pics today!
ReplyDeleteThese are all so soft and dreamy! Love these photos!!

Mine is looking sad too! We are planning lots of veggies this year and want to triple the size of the veggie garden. Since it has been so warm I already started some seeds indoors! I can't wait to get out there and get things growin'!!
