Ok so the Snap! conference is coming up in April and my husband (trying to do something sweet) decided to redeem his work travel miles and put me up in a hotel close to the conference. Fine and dandy with me. Until I find out, he hadn't done it yet... really no big surprise! He talks, but sometimes forgets to do. So in a sheer moment of panic I find a room that is 1/2 the price of the one I wanted, but 5 miles away (no biggie since I will have my car). So I go ahead and reserve said room, not pre-pay.. just reserve. So Saturday morning rolls around and I log in to do my weekly bank account checking and I see that the hotel took out the full amount of the stay! Something like that wouldn't bother me normally since I would have it all covered and not have to worry about it, except I was only doing a reservation and I see in small print on their website that if you pay in full in advance there are no refunds. So I tell my husband what happened and he was super annoyed because he had wanted to get the room for me... see that part 'had wanted'..?
Anyways.. I go to my bank to dispute the charge since they are open on Saturday and I didn't want to wait til Monday. So on my way back home as I'm pulling into my driveway I see that the owner of the house next door is in her driveway. We have only met her once before and she usually rents the house out, she said 'hi' real fast and just kinda walked away. I went into the house and could tell Mr.Smith was still irritated with me (because obviously the hotel error was 'my fault'), so I went back outside to clean my car. As I'm doing that the neighbor lady walks up and says 'hey our tenants gave us like zero notice and we are looking for new ones, so if you know anyone let them know'! ... Well I'm nosy by nature so of course I tell her that I should come look around so that I know what to tell my friends that may be interested. LOVE.AT.FIRST.SIGHT.
I've always adored the little cute cottage next door, but as I started to walk around I realized how perfect this house could be for us. Its a two story on the creek with more rooms & bathrooms then we currently have, cute gardens, a big front yard, all fenced in and get this.. 1/2 of the upstairs has its own entrance and is a studio apartment.. ummm wouldn't that be perfect for my work studio?? UMMM YES. We were buying our house from our landlords and backed out around December as something just didn't feel right.. and we feel horrible because we adore them, but they totally understood when we told them we needed more space!
I don't know how or why things like this happen, but I have learned to just go with them! That top left part of the house will be my new studio with it's own entrance separate from the rest of the house. The gardens need help, but will be such a fun project! So remember how I put my shop on hold to catch up on orders, get new inventory ready for The Queen Bee Market, get some creative juices flowing with my new collections for the shop, and remodel my studio? Well how about we change the plan and just throw in a move to the mix too?
Yeah so that's why I have been MIA a few days! I've learned a few things.. always have posts ready and scheduled in case things like this happen and sometimes husbands can do right by doing something wrong. See if he booked that room like he said he did, then I wouldn't have reserved one or been charged. I wouldn't have gone to the bank to dispute it when I did, or ran into the neighbor I've only met twice in the 2 years we have lived here..
Somehow this is meant to be and I'm really excited about it all!
how exciting! it looks like a super adorable home! happy for you. xo
