help me decorate my new studio!

Hey friends!  As I mentioned yesterday I'm seeking your help in decorating my studio, today I'm going to share with you what the new studio space looks like along with my ideas for decor.  At the end of this post look for a little poll so that you can place your votes. I'm sharing with you some design inspiration & color palettes that I love and whatever decor style gets the most votes thats how I will style my studio!

I have so many ideas and can't narrow it down so I think this will be a fun project that involves you, it also keeps me accountable to achieve it since I know you will want to see results.

So first I will show you the space I'm working with, be warned these were taken with my phone just as we moved in and there is no organization, decor.. anything!  Basically my new space is a studio apartment.  There is a kitchen, full bathroom, random cubby holes and storage.  You can access the studio from the side of our house by the patio with a cute set of stairs that wrap around a tree or you can come in through the house upstairs across from our bedroom.

This view is from the outside door looking in with the kitchen to the right and a work space area to the left that leads to the bathroom or into my house (we removed the wall so it's not completely separate from my house) Oh em gee, the mess.. I'm so embarrassed! Help!

And below I just had to include this photo because this is Arthur testing his limits on how far he can come in, I'm trying to train him to stay in the hall way!

Next to the kitchen on the right wall is this amazing built in organization space (?).  There is a table that pulls out plus the drawers, and the two cupboards on either side go all the way back so I have lots of storage!

And from that same spot if I turn to the right I can see that outside entrance again, another corner of the space and the large cubby area that I'm thinking I will use to store fabric because I found these little shelves that fit in there perfectly.. I just need more of them!

Ok loves this is what I'm working with! So here is where you come in.. below I'm going to share with you some of the inspiration behind the styles & colors that I'm digging right now.  I would love to get your honest opinions and if you don't mind, please place a vote. I'm going to collect votes through the weekend and next week announce the style decor winner and start working on it.  I can't wait to share updates with you and I hope you love the finished product!

I would also like to mention, I have free reign over this place.. I can build things if needed.. I can paint anything and everything.. I can add in new furniture or take out what I have.. seriously anything!  So if you have any fun ideas leave a comment =)

#1 natural with little hints of color

#2 vintage and romantic

#3 natural floral

#4 black/white & hints of peach..
lady gaga & the zebra not included!

#5 cream, gold and pinks

#6 black & gold

#7 cream & green with touches of vintage pattern paper

So think it through and cast your votes, I can't wait to get to work on this!

  5. Such beautiful choices. I am loving the idea of black and white with hints of peach. It would be sophisticated and still airy and romantic. It's the perfect balance.

  7. omg. what an amazing space!!! I really like the natural with hints of color--because I feel like you could swap out the colors easily for a quick (seasonal?) change and keep the space inspiring. The others are very nice, but I feel like they would be harder (and more expensive) to freshen up.

  8. Seriously!? How does one choose? All those ideas are so pretty! Well I'm sure whatever you decide it will be such a lovely, creative, inspiring space!

  9. #1 is gorgeous and understated, it would fit in the space you are working with and allow for easy change! I love that the little hints of color seem to be fresh flowers which will be great for the atmosphere in there! :)

  10. I love them all! It's great that you have found this space and can do pretty much anything to it. It's going to be a toughie making a decision....

  14. Oooh, my choice (#1) is winning! I think I love the vintage industrial aspects of it the best combined with the fresh flowers. I feel like you could combine #1 with one of the floral/romantic options too.

This is such a fun project! I can't wait to see how it turns out :)

  19. I love #1 and #5 :-) Can I ask the source for number one? If there are more pics of that studio, I'd love to see!

  20. All of those are really closely related, I think you could get away with elements from each -- if you really couldn't decide :)

  21. I would go natural with some pretty color touches. What a beautiful space!

  22. that space is amazing!!!! I've been seriously thinking of changing my "office" aka cubby hole room into my bedroom and moving all of my creative fun stuff into my bedroom with it's big windows. all of your inspiration pictures make me REALLY want to do that now!

  23. Great choices to choose from, but I am so in love with #2 the vintage/romantic.

  24. I personally vote for choice 1. I know I can get overloaded and muddy-headed in my work when there's too much going on around me color wise. Even stark black and white can be too much because of the contrast. BUT that's just my opinion :) I can't wait to see how you style the space! You have a great room to work with.

  25. I have to say, if it were me working with that built-in cabinet, I would strip the wood and paint it white. Then I would fill the background of the shelves with a print or some kind of contrast to match the decor in the room. Just my thoughts. Really digging number 2, though. I voted for that one. I like light and airy colors for a room you are in a lot.

  26. I really love a lot of them, but I am TOTALLY into the natural background with hints of BRIGHT color right now! Then you can always change it up later, or feature one color over another depending on the season!

  27. I really love almost all of these ideas, but with the neutral background and hints of color, you can always switch up the colors a bit or feature one color over another depending on the season! We are building our screen in porch into a sunroom/workspace for me, and that's what I plan on going with :)
