Regina Morrison is the owner of a small handmade accessories business,
Acute Designs, and a freelance writer.
She recently escaped her 9-5 job and is actively pursuing a life as a handmade business owner.
Read about her journey and business on her blog, where she posts daily.
She currently lives in San Diego with her husband and two crazy dogs.

She recently answered a few questions,
so we can get to know her business a bit better!

- How do you find inspiration or what keeps you inspired?...

I am inspired by all things vintage and antique.

So, I spend a lot of time browsing antique and vintage stores.

  If I am in the need of a kick of inspiration, I will check out an old book about fashion

 from the library. The library is an amazing and free resource for design and fashion books!

If your library isn't up to par, try browsing for fashion and design books at thrift stores -

you can often find inexpensive and unique books.

- With your life, how do you find time to create & do you make a schedule?..

Acute Designs is my full-time job.

  I quit my "day job" {which I hated} in November to focus solely on Acute Designs.

We are a little poor these days, but I have never been happier...so it is worth it!

I find that it is easy to get sucked into the amazing world of blogs, social media, and emails.

   So I spend my mornings on the computer and afternoons creating and filling orders.

If I have a lot that I have to get done, I make an hour by hour schedule.

  I am big on lists and schedules, they put me at ease and help me to stay focused.

- Without divulging too many details, do you have any big plans for your shop this summer?
 (new items or a new direction)

I am going to expand my Acute Pet line.

  I used to sell eco-friendly dog beds, but the profit versus cost + production wasn't worth it for me.

  I have a few ideas of how to stream line this process, so look for that later this summer.

  I am also working on a few accessories for the home in order to create an Acute Home line.

Pets and homes need accessories too :).

- Do you have any advice for someone that is just starting out with a shop,
especially someone who makes unique items like yours?

Don't obsess about what others are doing - just do it your way.

Be honest, humble, and gracious.

Give every single customer a superior amount of service

and don't whine if things aren't going your way!

It will happen eventually, but it usually doesn't happen for people who spend their time

 complaining about "it" not happening.
