I mentioned last week that we had a plan and now that its getting closer to moving time, I feel like Ron Burgundy in a glass case of emotion.
I'm excited to have our own space again, to wake up in my own bed and walk around with no pants on (you do that too right?). I'm nervous because I will be alone for almost a week before Brandon gets home, he's never even seen the place I picked out for us! I'm sad because I have relationships (my girls) here that I took for granted and now I'm moving away from them to a place where I only know a few people. I'm happy to know I will feel inspired again. I'm eager for the newness of it all. I'm upset every time I see my mom cry, which is every day over little things.
But mostly- I'm ready.
I forwarded our address this morning and when I typed in Portland, I couldn't help but pause for a moment while realizing we are actually making this idea happen. The new place is officially ours today, but I had so many obligations this week with my businesses, I didn't want to stress- so I'm making my way up Friday or Saturday. Since the bulk of our belongings is just my studio (& its already packed up) the move should be pretty damn easy. Isn't it funny, I was freaking out about getting out of here and now I'm just 'whatever.
Silly me.
woohoo! so happy and excited for you!
ReplyDeleteI feel as though I've been reading along forever but never seem to comment. I've been following this whole plan and I feel like you are so wise to go about moving the way that you did. We are currently looking to move to Albuquerque so that I can continue my schooling with an MBA but I feel panicked at the thought of doing a big move again. Good luck to you in Portland, I hope it is everything you hoped it would be - and I can't wait to see your new space. xo.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for you! Enjoy the journey and just use the week alone to get all nice and settled in. And if you get lonely, send me a text.
ReplyDeleteYAY! Maybe we can finally do coffee :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun! And now you are only an hour away from me :)

It seems to happen that way, the ole "don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you got til it's gone" thing. But this move is going to be amazing and awesome which you clearly know! I move across the continent a few times of year to spend time with my long distance boyfriend and I know its great and amazing and I love him but it's also leaving my life, family and friends behind and it gives me baby panic like right now because I head there in 10 days. But life is like that - the good things are usually the one's that give us a little panic or put us in glass cases of emotion lol
ReplyDeleteChange is good. Fresh start, clean slate and new exciting opportunities and adventures to be had! So exciting!
ReplyDeleteMuch love, Bailey from Vanilla Blonde

ReplyDeleteNew reader, so the most exciting part of this for me is that you are a fellow pants-hater. Rock on in your new home with no pants.
ReplyDeleteOh yay change! Can't wait to see what Portland has to offer.
ReplyDeletei feel like a lot less planning was involved with my move to portland. (just out of college, no money, no furniture, or anything). there's good and bad with moving, but i definitely feel that moving to portland was the best decision for me. i'm sure you'll love it too! :)

I'm moving out of my family home to a different city with my boyfriend in September and am feeling everything you have said! My Mum hates the fact that I'm leaving and cries about it now. I don't ever want to leave, purely because it's starting out again but I think it'll be worth it once you're in the new routine! Good luck

Moving can be difficult, scary, and exciting all at once! I`ve moved a lot in my life, the biggest change was when I moved back to Norway after having lived 3 years in Spain, and not really knowing many people in Norway anymore.. tough, but it had to be done!
