Hello readers, my name is Maria and I blog over at Little Tree Vintage. I am here today to talk about truly loving what you do. I picked this topic to discuss with you guys today because I feel that it is something near and dear to my heart. For those of you who follow along with my blog, you would know that I currently work in a hospital with children as a Child Life Specialist. Although I love my job, I also have a second love. I have always loved fashion, and have always dreamed of owning my own vintage shop & boutique. If you want to hear more about my story of wanting to switch careers, you can do so here and here.

I started blogging a little over a year ago, and since then I have fallen in love with it. I think the reason I love it so much is because I truly enjoy what I am putting into it each and every day. After all it is my personal space. A space where I can say or do whatever I want, and if people agree- great, if not -oh well. I believe that a huge part of doing anything in life involves passion, drive, and ultimately love for whatever it is that you're doing every day. A few months ago I found myself not really enjoying work as much, but the one thing I did enjoy was the passion I put into my blog/shop day in and day out. It was then I realized that I found my true drive, and what I was passionate about.

Although I am still currently working in a hospital, I have been taking small steps towards reaching my goals, in order to fully do what it is I love. I am working and saving up money, and I recently applied to The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City for Merchandise Management. What I am trying to get at by telling you all of this, is that it is extremely important to follow your dreams, and to follow your calling. It's definitely not easy, but it's extremely possible.

If you try to force yourself to do things that you don't really want, ultimately you will be listless, exhausted, and miserable during your every day routine. I know this, because I have been there...and some days I still don't like where I am at. The beauty of all of this is knowing in my heart that I am trying my best, and it will come eventually. In reality, a lot of people HATE their jobs, and they just chalk it up to "oh well, it's just work." This kills me, because work should be something truly enjoyable, it should be something amazing...something that makes you wake up in the morning and be excited to live. That's why I want to pursue my dreams, because I know there is more creative living for me to do.

When you love what you do you will be the best you can be in every aspect. You'll be putting in time and effort into something that means something to you, the drive will come truly from within. I think this is even more important for blogging because if you don't love what you're writing about, you're not going to feel motivated, or inspired to post. In any situation if you stay true to yourself, and you love what you're doing...everything will fall into place..I truly believe that.

  1. So true that you have to make things happen. No one will rescue you from the job you hate, you have to go out and find what it is that you want to do.
