14 Days of Love! Paint Swatch Notecard

If you remember yesterday I mentioned it was the start of a 2 week series with Dana from Wonder Forest and myself featuring 14 projects in total based around Love! Dana shared a darling fabric flower bouquet with you and today it's my turn so I'm going to show you a quick & simple notecard.

Supplies needed: paint swatch, glue stick (or paper adhesive), heart template which was cut from piece of paper (unless you are amazingly awesome and can free hand this bad boy!), razor blade or x-acto knife, blank note card or sheet of card stock to make your own note card. Optional Supplies: paper trimmer, other decorative paper

First up I took a scrap piece of paper and made a heart template which I sized to fit each color of the paint swatch because I wanted to use all 4 colors for this project.

I had a blank note card handy, but I really want to used a sheet of this kraft card stock for the card.  I traced a quick template and used my paper trimmer to make a replica.  Next up I took my paint swatch --which was free & adorably colored with 4 different hues- and made a few points of reference as to where I would want my hearts to be placed on the inside of the card (so there were no pencil marks on outside). I then lightly traced the heart in a pattern across the card and used a razor blade --only because I had more control then the x-acto knife- to cut out the hearts.  I did this over a piece of fabric cutting board so be careful where you do this!

I then trimmed down the paint swatch to just cover the hearts that were just cut out, and glued lightly around the edges making sure not to get any on the middle of the swatch itself.

Still having the card with the inside facing me, I lined up and placed the swatch over my hearts pressing down to adhere the glue to the card stock.  As you can see when you glue the swatch onto the back, its not all that cute.. and for the sake of cuteness I added another piece of decorative paper over the back to tie the card together. So now the inside is just as cute as the outside!

This craft is easy, super affordable and the possibilities are endless.. You could use a punch out stencil for your design or add patterned paper or fabric to the back, have fun!  Tomorrow Dana has another project for you!
